Ye Olde Tavern Tours

Overview
Ye Olde Tavern Tours offers historic tavern tours in Boston because we believe beer makes history even better! On our guided walking tours, you'll see ten sites on the Freedom Trail and grab a beer at some of the nation's most historic taverns. When visiting Boston, there are certain historic sites and stories you shouldn't leave without seeing and hearing, and you'll do all of that on our tour, all while drinking beer!

Led by expertly-trained historians (our guides have a minimum of a Bachelor's in History and many of them are currently working towards or have a PhD in History), you'll learn about the drunken and revolutionary history of Boston in the eighteenth century.

We cap each tour at 12 people to provide an intimate and accessible experience. Our tours are the most fun and social way to experience Boston!

We are a small, local business and we greatly appreciate your support!

Great tour. Brooke's enthusiastic delivery draws you into the history and gives you what feels like an accurate depiction of what life must've been like for the colonists. The information she provides gives an impartial look at key historical figures' personalities, attitudes, and motives to depict a more complete and compelling story than you might have heard in history class. All this with the backdrop of local beer and taverns older than my known family tree make for a great time, and (maybe most impressive of all) Brooke memorized everyone's names prior to the tour.

If you have an interest in the revolutionary history of Boston, and enjoy seeing historic pubs, and enjoy locally crafted brews, this is the tour for you! My brother and I came across the tour when doing research for our Boston trip, but we're disappointed that the tour was not scheduled for a time the few days we were in town. We emailed them, and Brooke scheduled a private tour for my Brother and I. Our tour guide, Kristen, was absolutely fantastic. Charming, knowledgeable, smart, friendly, funny and passionate about history, she absolutely made this a memorable tour. The tour was about 2 or 2.5 hours, and covered probably at least 2/3 of the "Freedom Trail" stops, with stops at three historic taverns along the way. Kristen recommended several local brews at each stop, several of which were Sam Adams beers brewed exclusively for those establishments. As beer lovers, we truly appreciated this extra attention to detail, and appreciated not having to choke down Bud Lite or some equally other awful macro swill (though I believe you could if you wished). The tour really made the history of the area come alive, and I can't recommend this tour highly enough. The next time I find myself in Boston, I will be taking the tour again. Book this tour.

Brook was awesome! She really knows her stuff and made the experience a ton of fun! I have been on other walking tours, but this was the best. just when you start to think "I'm thirsty" Brook has a cool old, historic tavern to pop into and have cold one. I highly suggest this tour to anyone even if your not a big beer drinker. Where else can you have a personal tour of Boston from a PH.D. in American History all for short money!!
