If you want to have a one of a kind experience, then you absolutely have to check out the Mushers Camp in Skagway. We were picked up at the port by our driver, Harry, who took us on a scenic mountain drive to the camp. (NOTE: The camp in in Canada, SO REMEMBER YOUR PASSPORTS.) The scenery was amazing, and Harry was so knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, that we totally forgave him when he told us that black bears were fairly rare in that area, and then five minutes later we saw one literally on the side of the road. :D Once we got to the Camp we were shown to a large open yard where we played with a group of rambunctious, adorable sled dog pups, We were given an overview of the gear that the sledders use, how they take care of and train their dogs, and the structure of both the Iditarod and Yukon Quest sled races. After that we got to ride in an ATV that was pulled by a team of dogs and it was the most fun we'd had since that time I got handcuffed to that parade float during Mardi Gras. Seriously though, the dogs were amazing, and they loved getting pets after they were unharnessed. There was nothing bad about this excursion, it was fantastic from the minute Harry picked us up, to the minute he dropped us off. An absolute Must Do if you're in Skagway. Also, a big thanks to Harry and Melissa for the awesome experience!

This experience was all i hoped when booking. Legit working sled dog training ranch. Scenic 1 HR + drive with stops for photos. Dogs from 3 month old puppies to experienced Iditarod runners. Learned about the dog sledding experience and then the opportunity to do a short training run with Iditarod mushed Michelle Phillips herself. Our Skagway Scooters guide was Mikey, a sincere, funny, and knowlegable guide to the gorgeous landscapes and the dogs as well. One of the highlights of our visit to alaska and highly recommended!

Firstly, I booked this tour through Tripadvisor based on its reviews and it is exactly as people say.... absolutely amazing!! Not only do you get to find out a whole lot about dog mushing and the Idatirod race you also get to experience mushing with the dogs. Because there was no snow this was done in a Jeep vehicle on dirt tracks and explained to us this was important summer training to keep the dogs in good condition and to help identify teams for races in the winter. We got to pat and cuddle younger puppies in an enclosed area and there were also 4 week old puppies that could be cuddled in another enclosure - super cute 🐶🥰 Zac and Harry were our tour guides. Zac drove the very comfortable and spacious bus while Harry provided an informative and at times funny history and geography of the area of Skagway and Yukon. Harry was brilliant! The scenery was breathtaking and the history of the area unbelievable. Our party was made up of two teenagers, myself and my mother. We all had the best time and would highly recommend this tour. Some other reviews go into amazing detail about the tour and reflect the day perfectly. A couple of things to note: make sure you take your passport with you from the ship as you will need it to pass in to Canada. Also when Harry was looking for us on the port he held a sign labelled “Skagway Day Trips”. It took a bit to connect us as we were looking for “Yukon Dog Sledding Adventure”. We booked the early tour (8am) which gave us time to look around Skagway afterwards. A brilliant day all round and don’t hesitate to book this tour!
