Aperçu
Pay for the tour only, then decide which food items you want to buy. This is the best deal in NYC.

With an ethnically diverse community, one can find virtually every type of cuisine here. On our tour we will savor a delicious array of cuisines and flavors including: Greek-American Split pea Soup with fried croutons, delicious classic tasting NYC pizza, authentic Dolmas (Grape Leaves) Ukrainian varenyky (vegetable filled cabbage rolls) and perogis, delicious egg cream drinks, up to 8 different flavors of Korean Dumplings, and Italian pastries such as cannoli and sfogliatelle. Don’t worry – we’ll walk off the calories as we explore the history and culture of the East Village, from the Dutch colony of the 1600s, to the 1800s when the neighborhood was known as Kleindeutschland, (Little Germany). We'll also see famous locales from the counter-culture scene of the 1950s and ‘60s to the punk rock explosion of the 1970s and 1980s.

If a guest purchases 1 of every item, they will spend $11.

À quoi s'attendre
1
Cooper Union Foundation Building
See the statue dedicated to the oldest man to ever run for President (yes, he still has the title!). Learn about the speech given by Abraham Lincoln at Cooper Union, and why a once free tuition is now significantly higher.
2
The Public Theater
See the historic public theater where "Hair," "Hamilton," "A Chorus Line," and more have debuted.
3
McSorley's Old Ale House
The oldest Ale house in NYC. We won't be drinking in here (it's only 1 in the afternoon!) but we'll learn the complete history, and it's only three minute walk from the tours end!
4
St. Mark's Place
A hip street

The split pea soup I had was amazing and the dumplings were superb, and the cannolis at the end were out of this world good! Jon kept us dry in the rain because there were so many indoor locations, and the Michael Jackson story at the end was the cherry on top to the whole thing! Highly recommend this down to earth tour with Jon, don’t miss out on this!

Great tour covering a wide range of eateries in the area! Everything was super delicious and we were always seated and welcomed by each and every restaurant. Jon discussed the history behind every place and the general areas. Highly recommended for any foodie!

This food tour was amazing! I went with my family. Our guide Jon was funny and really knew his stuff. He was able to give us plenty of interesting facts about the area and the rich history of the buildings we walked by on the tour. The food was delicious and VERY afforable! We tried some neat cultural food items that we've never had before, plus other more familiar items. (The dolmas/grape leaves were fantastic!) If you're worried about the walking distance - don't! The walk was not difficult at all and I think all sorts of people would enjoy a tour with CityShuffles! Jon shared some super cool information + recommendations for the area and his vibe was great. Definitely would recommend if you're curious about what the area has to offer. Truly a great tour. Come hungry and enjoy!
