This place will make grown men weep. It’ll also make them, or any guest, giddy. It’s truly fun for all. A true piece of American history and an absolute must for any fan of the movie, or of baseball, for that matter.
I visited in the month of May. Although the corn was not yet grown (at all), it did nothing to detract from the magic of this site in quaint Dyersville, IA.
Visiting the grounds is free, but by all means go for the modesty-priced home tour as well. Not only will you get to see additional filming locations from the movie, the exceptional tour guides will give you insight, history and trivia of the filming experience and beyond. I am a HUGE film buff, as well as an avid film location scout. Even I didn’t know some of the trivia that was shared during my home tour.
Many thanks to “Tucker” my tour guide. He did a great job on the tour and was very patient in accommodating with pictures and videos. His enthusiasm for the film is palatable. Definitely the right guy for the job. He sets the standard for what a tour guide should be for this attraction!
Thanks also to the very friendly Marsha in the gift shop. Warm personality and very welcoming to the site. I love the t shirts and other swag.
I’ll be back one day to go the distance and run the bases once more. Maybe this time with corn stalks in the outfield. Thanks guys!
