It’s a contradictory place that rides high and dips low. And, as it turns out, that oscillation was built into the city’s character from the beginning.

This walking tour starts at Reno’s Arch, and along the way you'll find out about:

A beloved 12-floor brick building that was demolished.
An extinct species of huge fish that used to swim through downtown Reno.
Reno’s history as the divorce capital of America.
How trains, highways and mining changed the city.
The bridge where the whole town started.

This was my first experience using this type of tour. The key is you have to allow the map not to auto lock. Once you do that, the experience is fantastic, and you really do not have to look at your phone at all. One of the coolest experiences I’ve had with tours. And it was nice having the flexibility to do whenever.

What a fun thing to do. We had a group of 3, started our tour, stopped for lunch at a great local place, and continued on. I would love to do many more of these self guided audio tours! It’s a great way to get your steps in and here about a local area.
