The gps is just voice not visual, if you get of course there is no re routing.
....did not realize there would be a city parade on the day we took this tour. Had much difficulties b/c the GPS kept wanting us to cross the blocked off parade route and go to the other side!
Eventually, we made it away from the parade, but could not pick up any GPS tour info after that! So essentially, we just cruised around on our own as we never heard from the GPS again!!!
We made a stop at pier 39 and parked the GoCar at a meter stall, paid for two hours and walked around. When we returned to the car...we found that 3 motorcycles were parked very very closely behind us...and 1 was blocking us in from the front!
Needless to say this was disturbing as the gocars do not go backwards....unless you push it back yourself. Luckily the bikers who had parked behind us came out and helped us move the GoCar until we were able to leave.
Our next stop was ghiradelli square, where we again parked the car and got out to eat ice cream. This time we parked the car at an angle facing out and avoided another "blocked" scene!
One of the downsides to this trip was that we were told our viator voucher was only good for the "older-beaten-up" looking cars they had in stock and then we were told the cars would "probably" go up the San Fran hills or not! When I asked for clarification, b/c wasn't San Fran mostly hills??! I was told the $350 I spent for an all day car for 2 persons....only got the junk cars! If I wanted the nicer new gocars they had....I had to pay another $25....and these cars would get us up all the hills! :(
Needless to say, I paid more and opted for the newer car....,b/c who wants to cruise in a car that MAY breakdown when you have your child with you???
Perhaps if we were there without a parade.....and if we got the "newer" car without paying more money, I might give this another star! :(
GREAT FUN!
These go cars are great fun and a great way to see the city. Be aware if you leave the track due to a wrong turn the GPS just goes quiet and will not direct u back you need to navigate back to he route yourself. We were not informed this in our induction, made for a good learning curve.
