Nice train ride from Williams AZ to the South rim of the Grand Canyon. An all day event, train leaves Williams station at 0930 returns at 1745. Beautiful views from our Pullman car to watch the changing landscape from open grassland to pine forest. Look out for wild horses ,elk, free ranging cattle herds, I could hear "Home ,home on the range" in my head. Our guide on the train David was a very pleasant man, answering all my questions about the area, train, wildlife. The train runs as scheduled,be on time. The train ride has some fun for the kids,"train robbery" from a gang of desperadoes. The gang runs along the train on horseback firing their pistols, stop the train and board and "rob" the passengers, just good fun. A great time for all. One caveat your children should be at least 5 yrs old,it's a long trip. The young children in our car cried and fussed the entire trip making it difficult to hear the guide, announcements from the conductor and a general distraction from the experience.

My wife and I visited on Monday, April 19th 2021. We took the 9:30 am trip Northbound . There was a Western show at 9am, right near the train. With Covid, a lot of the bleacher seats were blocked off, so a lot of people had to stand off to the sides. We were one of them. And then to take away a bit more from the show, there was another train engine kind of behind us, sitting there idling. The noise of the idling engine was enough to kill our ability to hear a lot of the conversations going on during the show. The speakers at the show faced out more towards the bulk of the bleachers, so perhaps they were not as affected by the darn engine noise. The show seemed to be fun. We rode in coach class on the northbound trip. The bench seats were comfortable. The entertainment was very nice. After about 2 1/2hrs we arrived to the Grand Canyon, where we had 3 hours to visit, then take the southbound train back to Williams. On our return trip we sat in one of the first class cars. It was very comfortable. The little bit of the show on the way back was not too exciting for me. Our car attendant was Rob. He was great! Funny, and gave out enough information to make the return trip go even faster. I would certainly take another trip on the Grand Canyon railway.
