This was the trip of a lifetime for our family. My niece, her husband and their 8 yr old and 18 month old daughters took the first class train ride round trip for a day of exploring the Canyon. While COVID restrictions make everything more difficult and many of the venues were closed or so crowded that one waited hours to get into a gift shop or order take out ice cream/food, the folks who run the train did a spectacular job making this the best day ever. Christina, our attendant in the first class Arizona car was a huge help with the baby, engaging with her when cranky, arranging for the entertainers to stop at our section to entertain her, etc. She even served them a small cup of whipped cream to make them smile. You cant go wrong by taking the train. We saw elk, prairie dogs and lots of free range cattle as well as spectacular scenery along the way.

If you’ve never been to the Grand Canyon before or if you want a new experience revisiting the canyon, this is the way to go. We took the train from Williams, AZ to the Grand Canyon. We did this as a family many years ago, but since it was just my husband and I, we thought we’d give it a try and take the luxury dome car. We also added the hotel package to stay one night at the Grand Canyon. It was totally worth it. The luxury dome car gives you great views with adults only and cocktails along the way. Once on the train, all your cares melt away. No worries in driving to the canyon and having to find parking. The GC Railway does all work for you. They have GC Railway staff that give a very informative narrative of the GC history and fun facts, with live music during your journey as well. Upon departure from the park on day two, there was a champagne toast for all the luxury dome car patrons. It was a really fun experience and a great way to celebrate the trip to the Grand Canyon. They don’t call it “Grand” for nothing! I would definitely recommend the GC Railway for couples or family. Definitely a trip to remember and a unique way to do it.
