First of all, our host, Kevin was beyond well-informed, having lived on Maui his entire life. We were able to see and hear about land he once considered his playground as a child and understood how dear the Watershed is, not just to our guide, but to everyone. The hiking itself was just hard enough to make you feel like you got a little exercise, with fantastic views popping out from time to time, and peppered with stories and facts from Kevin about the forest around us. Maui Gold pineapple was provided as a welcome snack before we started. Then, again, this time with li hing and a cold towel, at the end of the hike. Just to make sure you feel even better about it, Kevin requires a little service with your outing! After learning about these invasive species, it was great to chop ‘em down! Mahalo, Kevin, for a wonderful day into the West Maui mountains.
