Big Morongo Canyon Preserve
Nestled among the Little San Bernardino Mountains in the Sand to Snow National Monument, the desert oasis at Big Morongo Canyon is one of the 10 largest cottonwood and willow riparian habitats in California. The upstream end of the canyon lies in the Mojave Desert, while its downstream portion opens into the Colorado Desert. There are numerous trails to walk and hike, including a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk through the marsh and riparian habitats. At 31,000 acres with elevations ranging from 600 feet on the canyon floor to 3000 feet at the top of the ridge, this diverse landscape has been an important part of the Morongo Basin’s natural and cultural history for almost two billion years.

Best tour ever! We only had 1 day in Joshua Tree and Jeff, our tour guide made it so memorable. His humor and knowledge were both excellent! He took us to really cool view points, was happy to take family photos and even played perfect music (Clint Eastwood, Johnny Cash, U2...) when not commentating on the history/views. Highly recommend this unforgettable trip!!

This tour was excellent. We only had 1 day in Joshua Tree, so this 5 hour tour was the best way to see and learn the most in short amount of time. Adventure Tours has several different types of tours. The company was very accommodating. Bill explained the tour difference to me and allowed us switch tours when we realized the Luxury tour better fit our needs. He was a pleasure to work with. I went on the tour with my wife an mother in law. We were all very impressed with or guide, Zach. Zach was very friendly and helpful. He had an excellent knowledge of Joshua Tree history, geology, plant life and more. Zach clearly enjoys the outdoors and what he its doing. He was a great communicator and tried to really accommodate our interests. We highly recommend Zach and this tour.
