This tour was excellent! This six hour cruise starts in Seward and takes a tour of some of the most breathtaking sights we saw in our two weeks in Alaska. We were fortunate to have Sherry Cruse as our captain, and her skill, experience, and passion for Alaskan coastal wildlife showed throughout. Captain Sherry and her crew took care of us very well. They navigated us up close to breathtaking glaciers and rock formations. They helped us to see an amazing array of wildlife (Orcas! Humpbacks! Puffins! Bald eagles in their nests! And so much more...) As we got near to a special sight, they helped us get to the exact right spot for some of the most amazing photographs. The crew was wonderful -- they fished out glacier ice for folks to taste which was really cool. Oh, and then we smelled something baking...only to find the friendly crew handing our fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies!! All of that by itself would have made this the highlight of my and my six-year old daughter's Alaska vacation...but Captain Sherry went above and beyond, arranging for my daughter to get to sit, briefly in the captain's chair, where she made her a "Deputy Captain". The boat is roomy and clean. We had a table to eat the tasty lunch they served (they had a vegetarian wrap option which was delish!). And Captain Sherry was very attentive to the motion of the ocean - taking pauses if the waters ever felt rough. So we *all* had a great positive experience. Note: the ship does sell ginger gum and candy (in case you are feeling any motion-sickness). I bought some in case my daughter felt queasy, but she felt just fine throughout the tour. When friends ask what they should do in Alaska, this trip ABSOLUTELY tops my list of recommendations...and while I'm sure all the captains are very experienced, I tell them that they should see if they can get a ride with Captain Sherry Cruse.

We lucked out with the weather and the wildlife seeing otter, eagle, puffins, seal, and whale. The glacier was magnificent and we were able to see large parts of the glacier falling into the water. There was a slight delay in the water due to an engine malfunction but we were entertained by a whale that hung out for almost an hour. We did not mind the delay and in fact were surprised when we were presented with a $100 refund at the end of the cruise to make up for the delay! This was thoroughly enjoyed and in particular it was nice getting an early start allowing us to enjoy the late afternoon wandering around Seward.

We came to Alaska for two weeks, and our trip as a whole was magnificent. While we had many amazing experiences (including an interpreted tour of Denali, and a great dogsled event) the hands-down highlight of our Alaska vacation was our 6-hour cruise tour of Kenai Fjords National Park. Why? The lion's share of the credit goes to Captain Sherry Cruse, and her helpful, experienced crew. Captain Cruse's experience and passion were evident both in the way she interpreted the Alaska coastline for us, and in the breathtaking display of wildlife she steered us toward. We saw a school of orcas, humpback whales, porpoises, otters, seals, sea lions, two kinds of puffins, & bald eagles. No other day in Alaska came even CLOSE in terms of wildlife. Equally special were the glacer vistas and the amazing coastal rock formations. Thanks to Captain Cruse, we saw Alaskan wildlife and geology I doubt we could have seen in any other way, and left with memories we'll treasure forever. What more could we possibly ask for?
