Like Aialik, Holgate Glacier is surrounded by steep cliffs, dense forests and towering mountain peaks. Visitors may see spectacular calving events as ice chunks break and crash into the ocean. Though rare, black bears have been sighted on the beaches in Holgate arm.

We did the Kenai Fjord Tours cruise from Seward over to Aialik Glacier. The weather wasn’t great and the seas were rougher than normal, but the captain decided to go anyway. So glad he did. The ride out to the glacier was great. We stayed outside for most of it to enjoy the scenery. Upon arrival at the glacier, the crew was very helpful and informative. Our boys - 16 and 14 - loved it. Saw some beautiful scenery and wildlife on the return. Definitely wear layers and take Dramamine if you think you might need it. You don’t want to miss this. The chicken wrap they provide is pretty wimpy, so you may want to hit the Subway across the street before you board. The cookies at the end are fantastic though.

Had a fantastic time!! Starting with Beth at the customer service to our captain on board, Eric, everyone were friendly. Beth helped us cancel our tour for a full refund on the day we were booked due to bad weather and also gave coupons to the nearby aquarium to spend our day. She also made sure to book us on the same tour the next day as there were seats available. The cruise itself was phenomenal. We had a great captain who stopped at all the right spots and waited patiently for the wildlife to show up and educated us the entire 6hrs! Vegetarian wrap and cookie they gave for lunch was also very good. There were patches of rough weather and we were ok but there were a few who got sick on the boat. So if you are prone to seasickness and the seas happen to be rough when you travel, you may want to be prepared.. Otherwise, it's a must do in Seward.

A must do when in Seward! We were fortunate to see multiple pods of Orcas, a fin tail whale, sea lions, doll porpoises, eagles and of course the tidal wave glacier. Such a beautiful trip.
