Like Aialik, Holgate Glacier is surrounded by steep cliffs, dense forests and towering mountain peaks. Visitors may see spectacular calving events as ice chunks break and crash into the ocean. Though rare, black bears have been sighted on the beaches in Holgate arm.

We had a great trip out on the fjords. We had beautiful weather and saw lots of wildlife. The captain and crew were very helpful.

My husband and I booked this tour in advance of our Alaska trip. It is a great way to see wildlife, glaciers and be on the water. Since we did not plan to go fishing or tour on a plane, this was a good choice for us to explore the waterways. The captain provides an upbeat narrative throughout the day and the staff is very hard working. Lunch is a chicken burrito so if you need more than that, Bring on board. The waters are choppy so prepare accordingly to avoid seasickness. I took Dramamine and was fine. So much fun.

The boat ride to the glacier was amazing. We got to see puffins, a humpback whale and lots of sea lions and harbor seals. I recommend taking motion sickness medicine at least an hour before your trip. Even on a beautiful day the sea is bumpy once you’re outside of the bay. The crew and captain were amazing and you won’t be disappointed!
