Kualoa Ranch - Visite d'Aloha 'Aina

Aperçu
Our Kualoa Grown Tour allows guests to see the beauty and tranquility of one of Oahu’s most well-preserved ancient Hawaiian fishponds (Moli’i), which is carbon-dated at between 800 and 1,000 years old. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior, you’ll get to learn about early Hawaiian aquaculture practices and how fish was farmed in this 153-acre actively farmed fishpond, still standing with much of the original stonewall infrastructure in place.

Guests will travel on a Trolley to explore the tropical fruit and flower gardens of Moli’i. Admire the accomplishments of the early Hawaiians as the rich stories of the voyaging canoe and ancient fishpond unfold.

This was a very disappointing tour -- probably one of the worst guided tours ever! We were expecting a guided experience that would educate us about the farming practices, about the role the ranch plays in local food production, how native Hawaiian practices have influenced Kualoa's current agricultural methods, or about the domestication of the fruits, vegetables, and animals raised on the ranch. The guide simply pointed out fruit trees from the vehicle with no real discussion of the crops themselves or the farming methods/practices used to grow them. We received the smallest of samples of a few foods (pineapple, poi, cacao, macadamia nuts); we were expecting a bit more than a half of a slice of pineapple and 2 macadamia nuts. This agricultural tour has so much potential -- to share the beauty and art of farming, ranching, and aquaculture with the public, but it fell so very short.

We are very sorry for what happened. We always try to treat all of our customers with Aloha, and would like to hear more about the situation. If you get a moment, please send us an email at [email protected].

I expected more for the price. I was a little disappointed with the grown tour but maybe I'll go back to experience the movie or jungle tour
