This was actually my second time doing this luau; the first time with our family of 5 and this time on a couples trip. First of all I would skip the train ride unless you have kids with you - it''s really just a stop at a petting zoo and not the beautiful plantation ride that I recalled and the girl narrating the journey was deadpan and boring. So just buy the luau without train if it's adults to cut costs because it is spendy. But, if you're looking for an open bar with incredible drinks and strong mai tais then you are in the right place. One mai tai and I was ready to do the hula! Really though, very tasty drinks and we all enjoyed the different variety that we ordered....lava flow, mai tai, pina colada, etc. all were made with fresh fruit and nicely prepared. As for the food...ehhhhh....it was just OK. I know I read lots of reviews that it was fabulous but to me it's just a buffet. I would rather go to a luau where they unearth the pig and offer you a bite (Tahiti Nui next time). The salad and the desserts were my favorite part and my husband loved the koloa pork. The reason I give this luau 5 stars is the show, it really is that entertaining and awe inspiring. The music, costumes, fire dancers and hula dancers were thrilling and I would definitely go just to see the show with no food or drinks (well maybe just one of those kick butt mai tais lol). Wonderful production and we all gave a standing ovation to the performers!
