Nice evening good that you get collected and taken to the event, drinks are available to purchase bottle of wine $30 - the organisor was very good, welcoming everyone of the different nationalities in their own language. Moldova stumped him a bit! Entertainment was good, the group of Maori's singing, and performing the Huka - the stick throwing was particularly impressive. Food at the buffet was well managed and very good, take all you want though because it is cleared straight after the last person has been to it. Not a cheap evening at $130 each but for transport, food and entertainment not a bad evening.

On our recent holiday in New Zealand we were very fortunate to visit the Mitai Maori Village Experience in Rotorua. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and given a brief overview of our visit. After that we went back outside where we stopped to check our lunch which was cooking on hot rocks in a pit. We then followed our host through the beautiful rainforest where we saw pristine pools and bubbling water. We stopped to see the Maori warriors arrive in a wooden canoe. We also saw an authentic recreation of a Maori village. We then went into a large hall where we were welcomed with a Haka and an excellent cultural show including singing, dancing and displays of traditional weapons, tools and games. After the show we had a smorgasbord lunch which included the meat cooked in the pit, salads, desserts and a complimentary drink. The Mitai Maori Village brought history to life and it was a great experience which is well worth a visit !

Host was funny and welcoming. Gave some insight into Māori history and culture plus history of this family business. Impressive knowledge of a few words in various languages to put patrons at ease/feel welcome at start of night. Natural spring (reason village founded) was amazing and boat entry plus Māori performances both impressive. Food was a little bland but enjoyable. Could not book directly on website as link to booking page not working, so could not use discount provided by accomodation.
