Monument Valley is incredible and this tour was a great introduction to the geology and history of the valley, and the culture of the Navajo people. Our tour guide was Comasheena and she was fantastic. Comasheena took us into the restricted area, where we visited a lady weaving, using traditional Navajo methods, in a hogan; we also visited some beautiful arches; and saw some filming locations for Hollywood movies. The buttes and mesas are epic at Monument Valley and it was great to get closer to them and have an explanation of how they are formed. We also got to hear some traditional Navajo music, which was a nice treat. I highly recommend this tour.

Duffy was a great guide. He provided a lot of insight into the Navajo lifestyle. Most of what we visited you can see for free, but it was interesting to see the “off road sites “ and the hogan. Bring a face mask if it’s windy. It was, and we didn’t.

Tour time: September 12pm. The weather was perfect. I will be going back, and I will do the tour again. I would not try the loop in my own car, and I own an AWD SUV. The roads aren't great. I have read complaints that they could be better maintained, and I don't see how. The dirt is like sand. My daughter and I were part of a tour that was guided by Coma. She took us to several different areas that are just stunning, including a privately owned hogan of a weaver. The weaver explained about the dyeing of the wool, weaving, and symbolism in the tapestries she creates and sells. Her work is simply beautiful. Some things I wish I had been aware of: The internet is very, very spotty. There will be stops on the tour where tourists have the opportunity to purchase beautifully handcrafted items. In some areas, I was able to take advantage because the internet allowed the use of my card. But other areas did not have access to the internet, and I wished I had brought cash. Bring cash. There will be people you will want to show appreciation by gratuity. It is a great introduction to the Navajo culture.
