My wife and I booked a sunrise tour when we arrived here. Their stall is situated in the car park outside the View Hotel, which is inside the park, and there is a charge to enter, which will last for a couple of days only. I think it costs about $20 to enter the park. After booking this we had to get up at stupid O'clock in the morning to be at the View hotel for 4.45am because it leaves from there at 5am. There were 6 of us on the tour with Harry, our guide. During the course of the tour we discovered that he is a bit of a photographer and he assisted me in getting some beautiful photo's of sunrise and other areas of the park we would not have got access to or seen if we had just driven round ourselves. As we left the hotel it was very dark and Harry said nothing as we drove into the park. We could seed the outlines of areas of the park but he didn't stop or talk to us about anything. We later discovered this was because he did not want to disturb any of the locals who live there. We saw sunrise by the totem pole and then Harry drove us to another site where we could observe the sun over the pole itself. After this Harry drove us to other sites, including arches, where we could take some decent photo's and observe some Indian wall art. We learned so much about the valley and its history and me being a bit of a keen photographer I got some beautiful pictures of the place. As the tour went on Harry also provided us with commentary and played us some traditional music on his pipes. This trip took about 3 hours and cost the two us about £170 and we considered it about the best thing we did all holiday. Harry was a brilliant guide and I'm sure he appreciated the large tip we gave him at the end. We didn't have to pay until the of the trip when we walked into the reception area of the View Hotel to pay Charlene, who had been an excellent host during my previous email conversations with her over the months prior to our trip. I can't rate this activity high enough and hope this inspires others to have the same enjoyment we had. Getting up early in the morning was never more enjoyable.

Our guide, Bobby, was knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and funny. He also happens to be a musician, and played his flute for us in a cave where the acoustics gave his songs added resonance. He knew the perfect places for photo opportunities, and made the tour a complete pleasure. I highly recommend Monument Valley Safari and their guides--we used them for other tours, as well.

Excellent tour! Was very informative and interesting. Especially enjoyed the visit to Navajo hogan for wool spinning and weaving demonstration.
