The view of the valley from our hotel was breathtaking enough, and the public trail (extremely rough road) is wonderful....but then the guided tour around the 'back trails' where the public are not allowed (with good reason when you see how difficult to drive they are) takes you up several levels!! Awesome is an overused word in North America, but this is truly awesome in the true sense of the word. Our guide Toney was brilliant. His knowledge of the area, and of Navajo history was second to none. Being a photographer too he knew where the places to get the best pics from were, which was a nice bonus. We felt privileged to be a part of the day. Thank you Toney. The tour lasted for 3hrs and wasn't even spoilt by a rain storm in the last 5mins because that brought out a rainbow across the monuments. A priceless experience. Don't hesitate for a second.....book it, it's bucket list stuff!!
