Visiting from Seattle, this was our first time in Philly. We typically appreciate these types of tours to get an overview of a city before choosing specific sites of interest for further exploration. Our hotel concierge recommended this bus tour above the other two. There is a discount if you book online, but we choose to buy the standard $35 per person ticket.
This tour did not disappoint: we learned so much about the city's impressive history, as well as saw the major sites of interest. A lovely plus...entertaining guides who may have some canned content, but who make the tour that much more valuable/fun. Thanks Evelyn!
We stayed on the bus through all 27 stops, just to get a sense of where everything is situated and then rode the bus again to visit the Rocky statue, since it was the greatest distance from our hotel.
Jumping off and on at specific stops, like the Art Museum, where you will find the Rocky statue, Chinatown, the Penitentiary, etc, is easy. Buses run every 20 minutes.
Suggestion: morning is less crowded and the tep is more comfortable.
Highly recommend!
P.S. DO tip your guide and driver. This is how they make their $.

Hello Lora P,
Thank you for choosing Philadelphia Trolley Works & Big Bus, and for recommending us! I am pleased you enjoyed your tour experience, and in particular, our guides. ( Evelyn appreciates the recognition) Our guides do enjoy providing an engaging and informative tour. They are expert at what they do. Riding once around the entire tour loop, early in the day, was a great idea, and is the best way to familiarize yourself with the city and its sites and attractions. You can then spend the rest of the day hopping on and off for a closer look at points of interest. I am glad you found our hop on/hop off option convenient and easy to do.
