Car to airport arrived more than 15mins. late It did not come to my apartment, I had to chase it 2 blocks away in winter with a large suitcase Requested a car, got a dirty van Driver was surly Missed my plane Have LM with customer service 4 times over a month and have still not received a return call from them. Many options to airport in NYC. This should not be one of them.

I sympathize with my Trip Advisor neighbours for their disappointed service but this has not been our experience. We used Carmel last year and there was no issue. After reading mixed reviews we questioned whether we should use again but we did and again the service was good. Our car arrived as promised (and tracked it online). We do not need to finer things in life. We travel on a budget and use our money on destinations. We needed an efficient way to get to our hotel and back. The cars were not limos, but not a deal breaker for us. The drivers were not super chatty and again that's ok. We got to where we wanted for a very decent price. While I like first class, I don't need it. That's twice we used Carmel and no problems both time (and in fact, someone tried to take our ride, but the driver had our name on a sign in the window! Great job!!). If you want an economical way to Manhattan, without the bells and whistles, then this was perfect for us. Would recommend.

I’m aware Americans expect tips, however when you have little cash on you, you don’t expect to be spoken to like crap. Collected on Friday 13th but a friendly guys, once arrived at our hotel he stated “$9.50 toll charge and 20% tip please” I said all I had was 1 extra dollar in coins, he couldn’t have launched our bags out the car any quicker if he tried! When collected, the guy before pulling away gave me a receipt of $20.. i reminded him I know the toll is $9.50 and my last cash was $5. He turned his car off and said no he wants $20 as that’s $10.50 tip. I’m sure the customer chooses the tip and pays at the end?! Anyway, I gave him all I had and he then demanded my bank card details, I refused as his manner was ridiculous! I photographed his ID, emailed the company and heard nothing back. To a vulnerable timid person this could have been quite scary. The cars were nothing like advertised, old and shabby looking. Highly recommend DO NOT use these.
