Aventure en kayak dans la baie de la résurrection

Aperçu
This is your opportunity for us to show you first-hand the beauty of Seward, Lowell Point, and Resurrection Bay. While making our way to our kayaking location, learn about life in Seward, both past and present, from your driver-guide, who will narrate as we make our way through town. As we leave the paved streets of Seward, we’ll travel along the shoreline of Resurrection Bay on the gravel surface of Lowell Road. We’ll view turquoise blue waters and beautiful mountain vistas while we travel comfortably by van to our private beach.

Upon reaching our launch location, you’ll meet your kayaking guides for a quick briefing before heading out onto the water. It’s common to encounter sea otters, harbor seals, bald eagles and leaping salmon as we kayak. We may stop to take a short walk on the beach along Tonsina Creek to view a salmon spawning stream (active mid-July to early-September). This the perfect trip for those experiencing kayaking for the first time or for those short on time.

We had beautiful weather and great paddling. Bluebird skies and warm temperatures! We ended up in Seward during the fires and were booked right away into a group trip! It was meant to be.

Kayaking was, for me, one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. I had high expectations, and the day exceeded them. My friend was very nervous, and our guide was understanding and helpful, and he made the day on the water a special one for her, too!

I am a novice so to was my son aged 12. After being warmly welcomed by our enthusiastic guide and given safety instructions we set off on the adventure of a lifetime. The "Resurrection Bay" tour and some time walking through a rain forest. 4 hours. The weather being slightly misty and rainy honestly added to the experience the water was calm and having the freedom to float and paddle along the coastline away from the tourist sights in the city was a well sought after break. Our guide pointed out the natural formations along the coastline, some birds and an encounter with a dolphin( I think ). About 1.5 hours into the trip we headed towards the shore. Our next mission was to explore the rain forest. On route we followed the estuary inland. Searching for salmon who were returning to their birth place. Ah Ha said the guide look down here just 3 meters away. 4-5 salmon headed inland hovering over a shallow ditch in the sea bed. Suddenly there flowed the eggs from the female a soft pink color right over the ditch. Within micro seconds one male released his sperm to cover those precious eggs. Their life's mission now accomplished. My jaw still open wide I exclaimed aloud LOOK AT THAT, I just saw salmon spawning. I travelled half way across the world, paddled in the sea trekked inland towards a rain forest only to witness a split second of unbelievable nature. Till today it's a thrilling memory. Walking through the rain forest with rain tumbling down having seen nature up close all blends together in a wonderful memory of our Sunny Cove Kayaking trip. The guide patiently showed us the caring trees and their bark, he taught us what a rain forest is, along with the fresh air, wow it was intoxicating. The paddle back no less thrilling a small whale/dolphin ( please forgive me I can't remember exactly which one) swam not so far from us and, what with the rain still gently coming down those rain drops were so nice, just part of the atmosphere, we were truly sad to have to end the 4.5 hour adventure. Wow how lucky we were. Thanks SCK for showing the beauty of Seward and Alaska. One day maybe I'll go back. Being 57 years old at the time I hope to stay fit enough to do it in the near future, You don't have to be young to enjoy this fantastic trip. If there had been enough places for us on the Fox Island trip that day I would have gone on that, more time in the water, not to be missed.

Hello michellek719! Thank you so much for the wonderfully detailed description of your experience. I happen to think the salmon lifecycle is equally enthralling. 🤓 For those also hoping to see our wild salmon runs, the best time to visit Seward is mid-July to mid-August. We visit this salmon stream on our Resurrection Bay Tour, Tonsina Point Kayak & Exploration and Caines Head Kayak & Hike Tours. We hope you do find the opportunity to visit Seward another time...and that you'll join us for a new adventure on Fox Island! Thank you!
