PERFECTION - ORANGE TORPEDO TRIPS
If you like outdoor wilderness, if you like wild rivers, if you like river rafting and/or inflatable kayaking or want to learn how to like it, if you like camping in the wilderness on beautiful white-sand beaches, if you like the idea of seeing and hearing about a major part of American history (for starters, Lewis and Clark explored and charted the Salmon River), if you like the idea of seeing bald eagles, ospreys, marmots, lots of beautiful butterflies, maybe even a black bear or two (we didn’t on this trip), if you like eating really well, if the opportunity of sleeping under the stars (and man-made satellites) with absolutely NO ambient light appeals to you, if you enjoy being with and bonding with a group of new like-minded people, if you would like to be with and get to know two, three or four young, friendly and adventurous rafting/kayaking guides, if you like the idea of having a river adventure that you don't want to end…well, do we have the rafting outfitters for you!
ORANGE TORPEDO TRIPS!!! Whether you're 12 years old, or, like us, in your mid-70s, or anywhere in between, the 6-day white-water rafting adventure on Idaho’s main part of the Salmon River, run by Orange Torpedo Trips is, without any reservations, the way to go. All those “likes” will be transformed into “loves.” This was our second consecutive summer experience with OTT. Last August, we did the three-day rafting trip on the Wild and Scenic part of the Rogue River in Oregon. We were sold after that.
Idaho’s Salmon River is the longest undammed river in the lower 48 states, and runs through the Frank Church Wilderness Area, again, the largest in the lower 48.
Our rafting-guide/camping crew was headed up by Richard Alves, who has ten years experience guiding on the Salmon. His team was comprised of Hunter Leach, Quin Gaffey and Gabe Gonzalez. You will never meet four more able, likable, talented, supportive, motivating and talented young men. (And, we don’t want to leave out Oso.) In an understated manner, their primary concern is the safety, comfort and enjoyment of your total experience. And for you foodies (like us), all the camping meals were outstanding! Every ingredient was fresh! Nothing came out of a can or box.
By now, you're understanding why, for us, this was a perfect summer adventure. You, too, have the opportunity for this amazing experience. Go for it!
