Growing up in Idaho, but later raising my family in Arizona, I wanted to show my family the beauty of where I came from. We had 13 people on our 4th of July vacation, which included my husbands Father and wife, who are Sr citizens, and my grandchildren ages 4, 6, 10, and 12. Having rafted before I wanted my daughters to experience it, but admit I was anxious about including my grand kids. Erick assured me he could find the right trip for us in Riggins. He even called me the night before and explained that one rapid was classed higher than expected, and discussed an option to walk around if needed. He told me he'd talk to his crew about how nervous I was, and he made me feel confident about my decision to include the little ones, as they put a lot of care into making us feel comfortable. Upon arrival, they decked out the kids in helmets and wet suites and even created some special hand straps for them to hold on. We were turned over to our 2 guides Stevo and Tall. They were fantastic. On the van ride up, Stevo explained the approach he would take with each rapid as we passed it. This gave me great confidence. In the other van Tall some how pumped up my husband who had previously had no interest in rafting, and upon arrival at launch, he said he was gonna go for it with Tall, even though I thought for sure he'd ride with the kids in the safety raft. Everyone had a great time. The only disappointment was that we didn't book the 2nd trip as I had originally planned. The family is all talking about how they want to do a longer trip next year, and this needs to be our annual trip. By the way, we did not do any walk around, we road the entire trip and my grandson and granddaughter were having as much fun as we were. The guides and staff at Orange Torpedo in Riggins showed us a fantastic time. Absolute great value, and knowledgable guides. They were so much fun, even had some back flips off the raft! Don't try another outfit, Orange Torpedo is the only one I'd trust with my family. Thanks for a great time.
