When you book your tour, you are unwittingly playing a game of Russian roulette, boat edition. My family and I played and lost. Not all boats in the fleet are of the same quality. I wish I had known this when I made my reservation. If you expect a large-ish boat with an open air deck/benches, and an informative tour (like you see in their ads) – you may get it. But you may not. You may get what my family and I got. You may get a much smaller, very 70s feeling boat where your options are either; 1. 1st level - Sit/stand on bottom level (ground level) and strain your eyes through clouded glass (It’s hard to really take in the sights that low to the ground). 2. 2nd level - Sit down at large round tables with white tablecloths as though you were on a dinner cruise (even though you’re not) and hope you get a window seat (clouded glass included). 3. 1st level – there is a small area in the front of the boat where they let you go outside. You can see! Unfortunately, you can’t hear. The speaker out there is not up to the task, and as much as we asked, the very friendly and apologetic staff informed us that the volume didn’t go any higher. So, if you lose the game like we did, your choices are; 1. Hear, but not see very well or, 2. See, but hear nothing. Our family was upset, bored, and felt we paid for a service we did not receive. We got off the boat halfway through the tour (they make a pit stop halfway through if you book the 2 hour tour). They refused to refund us the first half of the tour. Will never use them again. Do yourself a favor, don’t pay for a service whose quality is a gamble.

Having been on quite a few of these trips we were really looking forward to taking my family on it to show them around our beautiful bay. Unfortunately, it took 30 mins into the first hour for the speakers to be turned up loud enough so anybody could hear the narration on the rear of the boat. The lady doing the narration was quite good but didn't have a lot of information compared to other cruises of the bay we've been on. For the second hour the captain did the narration and he was difficult to understand and again was lacking in information. Although he did do a good job of pointing out and naming the Navy ships. We were lucky and were one of the first to get onboard and get seats outside which were an absolute premium considering the number of guests. I would suggest looking at Flagship which does the same trip with a vessel that has much more outside seating and better narration.

Thank you for your feedback - we regret that your experience with us was anything but amazing. We pride ourselves on excellence, so feedback like this goes a long way. I've shared this information with our onsite staff so we can look into getting the onboard speakers fixed as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing it to our attention!

We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and found it informative, entertaining & relaxing. We were lucky enough to find the cruise through Groupon and got 4 tickets for more than half price off (highly recommend checking Groupon first for the massive discount!) Using the voucher was super easy and we were so lucky to come across it. We saw the sea lions which was brief but still great, got some fantastic photos of the city and learnt a few things along the way. There is food and beverages available for purchase on board and all staff from the tour guide, captain & staff were all super friendly. Highly recommend.
