Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

This trip was one word - epic. My two daughters, ages 7 and 9, my husband, and my uncle thoroughly enjoyed the tour on captain Troy’s boat. And his co-captain Matt was also stellar. They went above and beyond to be sure we had an excellent time. We saw several manatees and had a memorable experience swimming alongside them. It’s truly unbelievable what it’s like! And not to mention that snacks, drinks, and hot chocolate were ready for the kiddos when they came out of the water—it was an experience we will remember and treasure forever. Captain Troy and Matt were wonderful hosts, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the manatees and environment. We learned so much and when we go back, we will be sticking with this tour company as well as hoping we get another trip with Captains Troy and Matt.

I took four of my kids (Ages: 19, 18, 17, 12) to swim with manatees. We were all beginners, and I cannot explain what a phenomenal experience this was. Captain Peter and Guide Irish Dave ☘️ were amazing. Peter is from the area and his stories about living on the water were perfect. Irish Dave worked hard to help my 12 year old be comfortable in the water and made sure she saw manatees (plus, his photography skills are TOP NOTCH - I was so impressed with all we got for $33!). We plan on going back and requesting them again. BUT - the absolute best part is that my oldest there and I wear glasses. I knew I couldn’t wear them while snorkeling, and had resigned myself to a blurry experience. HOWEVER - River Ventures rents prescription masks! I was amazed at being able to fully explore and experience the River. I want to cry just thinking about how my son was also able to SEE the manatees (especially the mother and baby!). At one point I told Peter and Irish Dave how thankful we were to have seen and been in the water with two different manatees - and their reply was THEY weren’t happy yet. So off we went to find more manatees. You won’t find a better company or one that operates more ethically. They were upfront and honest (we were there in the off season), and kept every promise they made. Truly our best experience on our vacation.

I’ve been wanting to do the manatee swim/tour for a while but I always hesitated because I wasn’t sure which company to go with, if we’d even get to interact with a manatee, the early time, and because the trip from where we usually stay (Sarasota) is 2.5 hours. I am so happy that we decided to do it this trip. We had captains Matt and Troy and they were amazing! Great teachers and knowledgeable about the area and where to find manatees. We at first were a little nervous because we had been to a few spots without seeing much of anything. But soon enough we started seeing manatees. We were able to swim near manatees and even interact with a baby manatee that swam right up to us and would touch us with her fins and nuzzle us with her nose. Such a beautiful and tranquil experience. The water of Crystal River is beautiful. I would recommend a private or semi-private tour. With our group of 6 it was sometimes hard to float without running into each other in the water. It didn’t hinder our experience at all. But I don’t think it would be as enjoyable/personal with a large group. We also purchased some waterproof camera cases. It was a little hard to take pictures in water since the touch screen didn’t work through the plastic. I’m not sure if a GoPro or something similar would work better. Matt took amazing photos too so you really don’t have to bring a camera if you don’t want to. I also recommend going for the 6:45 am tour. It was early but it was perfect. Don’t hesitate! Book your tour! You won’t regret it. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had. So amazing!
