If you only have a day or two in Sonoma, the trolley is a fun way to see a bunch of wineries, meet some fun people, learn about the town and the wines and be outdoors. It is a fun thing for less enthusiastic "winos" as it is easy to sit out a tasting if you need a break. Fun for groups, too!

Whether in Sonoma or Napa, our Wine Trolley Guides make every effort to provide you with some fun facts, history and of course WINE! I'm glad you enjoyed 3 of the 4. Please feel free to contact me direct and let me try to may the next experience a 4 out of 4! In the event that you are ever in the area again, please look us up! Loved it! We got more than was told and almost all the wineries catered to your taste buds. The only one we didn't enjoy as much and got a cold reception was Imagery. They seemed to think they were above and beyond any other winery, which wasn't the case. My personal favorites were Ravenswood and Buena Vista. Everyone was friendly to start and the history of their wines interested me the most. Buena Vista is huge and architecturally pleasing. They have Shakespear plays going on all the time. Their wine cellars were caves and kept to a perfect cool. They have a champagne room that is absolutely beautiful! They are very helpful and interact with the customers. Also they wore period wear! awesome to see but I can't imagine how hot it was to wear! In Ravenswood as well our guide was friendly and had jokes for all of us!. My now favorite wine is their Red Zinfindel! The trolley was great too as the driver would go through the history of the town as well. Would love to go again and would definitely recommend!

The advertised price is a bit high for a wine tour. You might be able to justify it if you're on holiday and you think 'why not?'. But if you think of it rationally you might see you get little for $99. Well, not little - you get to ride around the converted trolley to wine farms. That is it. Anything else that concerns wine tasting you have to pay for. That means you must budget $15-20 per wine farm you will be visiting. And then there's the awkward matter of gratuity for the trolley driver. It's awkward cause one would imagine a $99-a-head shindig would give the driver a fair wage. But it seems, implied and also printed, you must tip the driver between 15 and 20% of the $99. You would be better off using your own car and visiting as many wine farms as you pleased. The transportation cost alone will not near $99. You might also miss some often tired presentations from wine hostesses who deal with tour groups if you go at it alone - this was not in all wine farms but you could sense narration fatigue in most estates that receive tours.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us on our Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley tour. I am sorry that you thought the $99.00 price was not competitive and or inclusive enough fee. However, if you shop our competitors, you will see that most all “Group Daily Tours” start at $99.00 and run upwards of $250.00 pp. Please keep in mind, that our $99.00 rate includes a 6 hour guided informative tour, a catered lunch by “The Girl and the Fig” (A Sonoma Valley staple) water and sodas. With regards to tasting fee’s, you are correct. On this tour, tasting fee’s are NOT included. Our website, tickets, Reservation Specialists and drivers indicate this information as well. Additionally, we have negotiated all tasting fees with each of our winery partners. For example, if you were to drive into the Benziger Family Winery on your own, you would expect to paid $25.00 pp. For our guests, the fee is $20.00 pp. And $10.00 of that goes for the previous tasting at Imagery Estate. The entire days tasting fees on the Wine Trolley are between $45.00 and $55.00. These fee's vary on the tour day you select. On average, your looking to spend about $11.45 per stop, per winery. Please keep in mind, that we visit 4 different wineries. No respectful business in Napa or Sonoma counties will recommend you drive yourself to see more than two wineries in a single day. DUI limits in California have a low threshold, and the cost if you get caught, is very high. Tips are not required, but truly appreciated. We offer a guideline in our FAQs and confirmations, because "how much is a good tip" is the number one question we get from guests. Thank you again for taking the time to write us. We aim to provide a fun and non-intimidating experience for wine novices and first time guest.
