We had the 7pm tour on 1/28. Our tour guide spent more time trying to act out scenes, sometimes hypothetical, than telling us the story of what happened. I feel like all the good information we were given could have been told in 20 minutes. The tour said we had 6 or 7 stops. The main thing my girlfriend wanted to see was the school house at the end. We never made it there. This woman spent 40 minutes at the fort for a mutual stop, 90 minute tour. At least another 15 we're sitting at the wall. Also, I hated the audience participation. I'm not here to reenact anything. I'm here to learn and see the ghost sights, not be in a childish, unprofessional reenactment of what kind of happened. 90% of the tour was her showing her improv skills and using shock factor and gory details as the tour. There was very little good information. I am also a professional tour guide, I'm NAI certified, and I work for a billion dollar company doing tours and education and have received numerous awards for customer service. I'm not saying I'm the best, because I'm not, but I know what a good tour guide looks like. This woman was more interested in acting and shock factor than telling the story. Then she ends the tour telling us about her husband she just lost. I feel for her, I really do. But that is extremely unprofessional bringing it up twice in the last 2 minutes of the tour, at a time when tips are usually given. That was very obvious to me. I'm sure this is a good tour, but not with her. Maybe I'm picky because I'm a tour guide and I always give guides and service industry workers slack because I've worked I'm tourism most of my adult life. I get it. It's not easy and I sympathize. I've worked in Magic Kingdom parking and have seen the worst of people. But this should show you how happy I was with this tour

Sounds like we have very different views on what a good tour guide looks like. Jan is seasoned professional with years of experience and overwhelming positive feedback from guests.
As a “fellow tour guide” you show NO professionalism in this review. Industry guides we have interfaced with will make it a point to find positive feedback and share that, or not say anything at all. They will even contact us with any concerns or critiques privately. That is called professional courtesy. What you did was grandstanding.
As with any guest, we would have gladly addressed your concerns on the spot if you had called or returned to our office. As someone in the tourism industry I am sure you prefer to handle any negatives immediately. You as a professional should have handled your dislike of our tour the way you would want one of your guests to handle it. You know - treat others as you would have them treat you…
We are not your cup of tea. No problem. We wish you well on your future tours and hope that your guests are kind to you even when they don’t like your tour.
