I’m glad we spent the money and paid for the tour. We rode in one of the open air vehicles and our guide, Carol, explained about the Navajo way of life throughout the tour. She took us to see a few hobans and a Navajo woman who was weaving. We got to see a few arches, which was really cool and I don’t think you would see unless you paid for a tour. Carol sang a Navajo lullaby to us, and she has a really sweet voice. My husband and I enjoyed the whole experience. We would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the tribal park for the first time. We took the sunset tour, which left The View Hotel at 4 pm. I felt like we had more time to see the formations and got to see them from better vantage points than if we had just done the drive ourselves. Also, we had our pre-teen kids with us, and I would say they enjoyed the tour almost as much as the adults.

We loved this tour! Our guide was amazing and the views were beautiful! Taking the sunset tour was the best for taking pictures. The lighting was perfect. I would highly recommend this tour.

Being able to do the back country sites was worth it. there were some amazing views that were off the normal loop. And being able to see the petroglyphs were pretty cool too. the colors of the red rock were amazing as the sun set. the meeting place instructions were incorrect though and that caused a delay in departure and an upset tour guide so don't meet in the lobby as instructed. there is a meeting place outside that you need to go to.
