Set in beautiful and lush Waimea Valley which looks like you’ve been dropped into a set of Jurassic Park. Setting alone makes the Toa Luau feel more authentic. They check you in and you receive a beautiful orchid lei, then set out to explore the cultural stations where a variety of methods are shown, like roasting cacao beans, cracking coconuts, making crowns out of palm leaves etc. Even our too cool teens loved participating. The food was cooked to perfection and delicious. The show after dinner was interesting, and exciting ! The people who work there were engaged and happy and made us all feel the same. Very nice evening, definitely a highlight of our trip

This is not a big touristy production. More like going to your uncle's house for a big party. (if all of your cousins danced hula.) The entertainment features a range of hulas from different islands in Polynesia. The food is generous and tasty; but they don't serve poi. Your luau admission also provides you with complimentary admission to Waimea Falls Park -- walk through the beautiful gardens and swim in the pool under the waterfall. Expect heavy traffic on the 2 lane highway between Haleiwa and Waimea.

We brought our parents on our honeymoon and strived to find a really intimate experience where we felt like we got the real deal. Wish we arrived earlier to see the waterfall and go swimming but traffic was backed up. Expect to leave 3 hours before the luau if you are driving in your own car from Waikiki. We got the VIP tickets and it was totally worth it, especially if you don’t want to be heard around like cattle with the major large luaus. Wish there was poi offered :)
