Johnson Square

We will learn about the beginning of Georgia and tour the original squares. Discuss the Colonial way of life churches, monuments and markers in this area as we journey into a timeline walk of the Historic District. Then our tour proceeds down Bull Street. The tour is one miles of walking and includes stops at Civil War homes, Cemetery, Theaters and famous movie locations.

My wife and I booked a tour with Michelle our first time in Savannah on a Thursday. We were lucky because we were the only two on the tour, so Michelle gave us a detailed overview of Savannah and some of the squares in the city. The tour was great because we only had a short time in Savannah and there is a lot we would have missed if we were just walking around on our own. The tour followed a logical progression through Savannah history and was also a great intro to the South.

We were the only two on this walking tour. The guide was very friendly, knowledgable...and FUN! She gave us tips on other places to visit. We took the daytime historical tour. The guide also offers night-time haunted tours. We didn't try the haunted tour....but, it sure sounded like fun. I'd do it again.

Michelle was a wonderful tour guide for me and my daughter. We visited Savannah to attend the SCAD Accepted Student Day. We got to Savannah on Friday, and I had looked into doing some sort of tour of the historic district so we could learn a little bit more before we visited SCAD. Being from California, we had little knowledge of Savannah except from movies and books. We shared with Michelle why we were there, so not only did she point out all the interesting history and stories of Savannah, but she also pointed out all of the SCAD buildings and student hangouts as we passed them. The information she gave us only enhanced what we saw with the SCAD tours, and none of it was repeated. Michelle's knowledge of the history was amazing, and I kept thinking to myself that my husband and son needed to be on this tour instead of me. They would have loved the history and know much more about than I, but I could definitely connect to the movie and Girl Scout information that she shared with us. We visited Savannah from California to see whether the school and the city would be a good fit for my daughter, and we came home with the knowledge that unless her second choice school can prove itself, we may be more frequent visitors of your Southern hospitality!
