This is a great example of how Two families could blow tons of money on museum quality construction architecture. The engineering to deal with hot summer nights is explained. Our tour guide, the perky blonde (forgot her name) made the tour as good as it gets. It's on a street with other museum homes rescued from the wrecking ball. It's a great memory of the well to do and decorated in period furniture and decorations. Great experience.

I took this tour with my two teenage sons because we had a couple hours to kill in Memphis before our flight home. The tour was not too long - about two hours - so it held everyone's interest and attention. We had one guide for the first floor and a different guide for the higher floors. Both guides were enthusiastic and well informed about the home's former inhabitants. The house is filled with a mix of furniture from the families that once lived there and others. The guides were unable to answer too many questions about the furniture but knew the basics. It was great to learn about this beautiful and historic house, its former occupants, and the history of Memphis. We would have liked to know more about the lookout tower that we climbed but it wasn't discussed as part of the tour. We would have also liked some history of the grounds, which included two large interesting playhouses. I am not sure if these were used by the families that inhabited the house or later moved to the site. It was a good use of the time we had in Memphis and best of all it sparked our curiosity about other historic homes and buildings in the area.
