Aventure d'observation des baleines Zodiac Raft

Aperçu
The experience of watching 40 foot (12 meter) whales from a 24 foot (7 meter) Zodiac raft is something you'll never forget! Following Hawaiian Marine Park laws of stopping at least 100 yards (90 meters) away from these magnificent animals, you get a close up look at the migrating humpback whales. It is not uncommon for them to be curious about the raft and come right under the boat!

We loved this trip! The captain was determined to get us the best photos right until the last minute. Had a brilliant time, saw many whales and dolphins too!

I had done this snorkeling trip over a decade ago with my family, and it had been amazing, so I was so excited to bring my husband and friends on it this time around...and it did not disappoint!! We went on the "Beat the Crowd" trip with Captains Chuck and Devantes, who were great. Both were very knowledgeable about the environment (both land and sea), as well as giving great recommendations to various places to eat and drink once we got back to shore. Captain Chuck was awesome at piloting the raft...you feel like you are in a James Bond movie when you hit some of those twists and turns along the coast line!! We were fortunate enough to get into the water twice on this excursion...just a little way out of the harbor we came upon some Spinner Dolphins hanging out, and Chuck let us respectfully take a little dip with them. AMAZING. The only thing that I was hoping for on this vacation to the Big Island was to be able to be in the water with dolphins...so thank you Chuck for unexpectedly letting that happen! Our second and scheduled stop was Kealakekua Bay for beautiful reef snorkeling. Lots a beautiful fish and coral...a calm bay for any level of snorkeler. Not a lot of people or boats when we were there, a plus for taking the mid day tour. As we climbed back into the raft, snacks and drinks were laid out, which we all enjoyed as we watched MORE dolphins frolic about. On the way back, we hugged the coastline, stopping here and there to learn about the geography and various sites along the shore. I highly recommend Captain Zodiac tours...the rafts are so fun...getting to your snorkeling destination is half the fun! The groups are small but the adventure is BIG! Thanks Captain Zodiac..see you guys next time!!!
