Queen is a star and welcomes you to the tour with a hug!
The tour content is very informative and humbling, covering not just distant history slavery but recent history also. We stopped at the COGIC church and were able to go inside, this is the church where Martin Luther King made his final speech on April 3rd 1968, and were able to stand in the pulpit that he stood in to make said speech.
Queen has another tour which includes the Slave Haven, I believe. She is such a good tour guide that a whole day tour including entry to COGIC, Slave Haven and Lorraine Hotel would be amazing - if she has that available I'd advise to take that - otherwise this tour is still a definite must.
She really is the Queen of Memphis tours, even if she's from the Bronx! Our family enjoyed her professional and entertaining guidance through the African American history of Memphis, and were moved and inspired and educated by her presentation. We highly recommend this overview tour to anyone who has two hours to spend.
This tour was really great! Carolyn was a great and knowledgeable tour guide about the history of African Americans in Memphis. She is funny and lively so you will have fun. She incorporates music and a recording of Martin Luther King speech to add to the ambiance of what is being seen. This tour is worth it! Check it out!
