We travelled from Scotland to the USA to ride down the famous Route 66. One of my most anticipated stops was to see the Grand Canyon. But it was also one of my most dreaded... perhaps the hype was all just hype... what if it was an anti-climax? What if it was a complete let down...
Let me tell you it was much much more than I expected. From the ride north from Williams to the heliport, the treatment we received by Maverick Helicopters, the pilots attitude, the general experience and the Canyon itself... Wow. It wasn't a once in a lifetime, because I will go back again. And I will use Maverick Helicopters again.
Our pilot (apologies as his name escapes me... possibly Pete??), set us at ease with his relaxed but professional demeanor, his interactions with his passengers and the revelation that he used to fly Black Hawk Helicopters... so we're in good hands then. Aaaand relax. I regularly use helicopters for my work offshore, but I know my wife was incredibly nervous, and the revelation of his flying experience really helped her to enjoy the flight. It also helped to lift off to the Top Gun soundtrack, followed by a quality "mix tape" of classic rock gently pumped into our headsets as we soared over the landscape. The pilots knowledge of the area and delivery of the facts was as enjoyable as the ride itself. Outdone only by the views we experienced... I have never in all my days seen a landscape so beautiful.
Thank you Maverick Helicopters.
