Debbie was our tour guide, and she was very warm, patient and engaging. We had a teen and tween with three adults on our tour. She did a great job of giving breaks and places to sit throughout the walk, asking us questions to "test" our knowledge, and infusing personal stories and photos to add context and bring the tragedy and perseverance of NYC front and center for the kids. Without a guide, I would likely have only seen the Reflection Pools where the towers used to stand, so it was particularly interesting to be introduced to other buildings that were also affected and additional memorials that were erected in honor of 9-11.In addition, we did explore surrounding buildings, including the Oculus and a beautiful memorial to the 11 American Express employees who died in the towers. We stopped for a bottle of water and cupcake at Sprinkles, which was a great break for the kiddos. The time went fast and was educational in a way that maintained interest. The meeting spot was at St. Paul's Chapel, which was more challenging to find than we expected, but made sense once we knew its historical context on 9-11 and afterwards. Definitely wear comfortable walking shoes and a camera.
