The most popular tour! Drive your own sled-dog team with 6 time Iditarod winner Dallas Seavey's team of mushers, handlers and champion dogs on real snow in the middle of summer surrounded by amazing scenery. Start this adventure with a helicopter ride over glaciers. We often see moose, black bears, Dall sheep and goats. Land on a glacier and enjoy a whole hour with champion sled dogs and their mushers that live here all summer. Take the dog team for a ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush a dog team or just sit on the sled and let the mushers run the team. After your dogsled tour meet the canine athletes that pulled your sled, and of course take pictures with your favorite dogs. After the tour the helicopter takes you back to the lodge and you’ll fly over the lower glaciers where you can see the blue melt pools and the crevasses.

Total Tour Time: 1.5 hours - includes 1 hour with the dogsled team (aprox 30 min sled ride) and approx 30 min round trip flightseeing

DRESS FOR ALL WEATHER - the weather at dog camp is high elevation and may be cold and wet. Layers with an outer waterproof shell is recommended.
Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.

From my hotel pick up by Kevin, through the helicopter tour with Josh, and the mushing with Josiah, I had a fantastic experience! Of course mushing with the dogs was icing on the cake and meeting the puppies was the cherry on top of my tour. Learning more about Alaska on the drive with a photo stop of the Knik glacier was enjoyable. You could tell that Kevin loves his Alaska home. Josh was a great pilot and pointed out several types of glacier and a moose on our way to the sled dog camp. Last but not least were the staff that explained how mushing worked so we could each try our hand if we wanted. Our musher Josiah explained history of the Iditarod, told us about the champion dogs including our lead dog, and explained how he communicated and trained the dogs. We had great weather and every one got a turn mushing and sitting in front with the dogs. After that we got to thank the huskies for a job well done and take a few pictures. Then we got to meet and hold one of the puppies. I highly recommend this tour…it is worth every penny!

This tour was absolutely fantastic. The scenery was spectacular and the dogs so cute. Guides were very accommodating and knowledgeable. The helicopter ride was fabulous coming back through the gorge with its twists and turns. Definitely worth the money and highly recommend. Just fantastic.
