The most popular tour! Drive your own sled-dog team with 6 time Iditarod winner Dallas Seavey's team of mushers, handlers and champion dogs on real snow in the middle of summer surrounded by amazing scenery. Start this adventure with a helicopter ride over glaciers. We often see moose, black bears, Dall sheep and goats. Land on a glacier and enjoy a whole hour with champion sled dogs and their mushers that live here all summer. Take the dog team for a ride through real snow. You can stand on the runners and mush a dog team or just sit on the sled and let the mushers run the team. After your dogsled tour meet the canine athletes that pulled your sled, and of course take pictures with your favorite dogs. After the tour the helicopter takes you back to the lodge and you’ll fly over the lower glaciers where you can see the blue melt pools and the crevasses.

Total Tour Time: 1.5 hours - includes 1 hour with the dogsled team (aprox 30 min sled ride) and approx 30 min round trip flightseeing

DRESS FOR ALL WEATHER - the weather at dog camp is high elevation and may be cold and wet. Layers with an outer waterproof shell is recommended.
Alaska Helicopter Tours has Robinson 44s and ASTAR helicopters. We never guarantee the type of helicopter you will be flying in unless a private helicopter option is purchased. Parties with multiple separate bookings, or parties over 2 passengers may be in 2 helicopters, but will always be together for the tour.
VAN TRANSFERS TO DEPARTURE LOCATION NOT INCLUDED - can be added for a fee

Breathtaking views from the helicopter trip over to the glacier. Our guide Isaac was so passionate and energetic in describing how they care for and love these dogs, how the sport works, and how amazing the dogs are that I couldn’t help but be excited by the whole process. Nothing but positives to say about this trip from start to finish.

This was our kids first experience in a helicopter, and it was awesome! Except now they want me to learn how to fly a helicopter. ;) Flying over and landing on the glacier was amazing! They had crampons for us to slip on so we could walk around and enjoy the glacier pools and rivers. Unfortunately the weather didn’t allow for us to fly up high enough on the glacier to experience the sled dog tour. But they refunded us this money, and we were able to book with AK sled dog tours (Dallas Seavey’s Team) in Talkeetna, where we had a fantastic time a few days later.

All of it was amazing. We had such a great time. We saw bears and goats on our way there. We had the absolute best time with the dog sledding. And glacier stop on the way back was definitely a great finish. Best experience ever!
