Went on the expedition August 5...No Whales, nothing, the crew said is the first time in the season that they do not see whales. they gave us a voucher to come back for free within 12 months.. here is the catch, if you want to reserve your seat you need to pay 50% with the voucher or you get to go standby and if there is space you go in for free. We called and another family called and they said that during the week there is not much people to just show up, we went on Wednesday and there was no room. If they really see whales 99% of the times then is minimal the amount of people that comes back, they should reserve the space. Felt like a total Fiasco, the trip in the boat was nice to see the islands. The staff agree with us but said there is nothing they can do, if we wanted to complain we needed to take a ferry to Orca Island were the office is, their business card has a PO Box address, very suspicious..

We really enjoyed our time with Outer Island Expeditions on 8/24. We were able to see Orcas several times, but the tour is much more. We also say sea lions and bald eagles. The boat is great for viewing and it is so nice that they don't over pack the boat. You could easily move from inside to outside and adjust viewing locations without feeling crowded. The crew (Captain Matt, Taylor, and Brooke) were exceptional. Their knowledge and easy way with the guests made is so fun and you learn so much from them. I especially appreciated the enormous respect they have for these majestic animals and were part of ensuring that pleasure boaters didn't get too close. I left with a sense that they are part of protecting these valuable creatures, not just tour operators.

We went on a mid-day trip last weekend, 8/18/18. The crew were professional and pleasant, the naturalists available and ready to answer any questions. They seemed to know a bunch about the local ecology and definitely knew the spots to find the whales. We brought our family with 3 kids and 2 grandparents and we all had a blast! The vessel was clean and safe, with plenty of space for the ~30 people on board. In regards to animal safety as well, the crew obviously cared about the well-being of these awesome creatures, throttling way down and keeping a safe distance during the encounter, and even alerting and waving to other boats that were speeding through inappropriately to slow down. Definitely would recommend!
