Arches National Park 4x4 Przygoda z Moabu

Przegląd
Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

Exploring with Navtec Expeditions is the ONLY way to visit Arches National Park - our guide, Blaine, arrived exactly on time for this fun-filled day of technical 4x4 backcountry adventuring while learning all about the history and geology of the Moab area. We were so impressed with Blaine we were lucky to book him the next day to take us through Canyonlands Island in the Sky tour.

I have very mixed feelings about this tour. It started off very good and for the most part I was enjoying myself. The tour guide was informative although sometimes he would use verbiage I think only scientist, environmentalist or historians would understand and Moab itself was beautiful. Toward the end of the tour he decided to tell us about Grandstaff Canyon, which used to be named Ni**er Bill Canyon. The tour guide chose to actually say the N-word instead of just hinting at what the canyon used to be called and he told me he was saying it from a "historian's" point of view. To be honest as the only black person on the tour it made me extremely uncomfortable from that point on. You could also tell the other people on the tour were uncomfortable as well from their silence and the mother in the group trying to change the subject. That word should have never been said no matter what point of view he was coming from and he could have easily insinuated what it was called, we all would have understood. I do wonder why he felt the need to tell the story at all? Was it because there was a black person on the tour and he thought maybe I'd like to hear some black history? Would he have told the history of Grandstaff canyon had I not been there? Sadly that experience put a damper on my whole memory of the tour and moab overall.

We were disappointed in this experience. We would have enjoyed doing this on our own more than through this tour. We were put in a Landcruiser that seated 5 people. My husband had a window and I was placed in the middle of the back seat on a hump between him and a stranger. The stranger coughed throughout the trip. The 4x4 portion was minimal and in no way exciting. The tour guide, David was a talker....and never stopped talking. At one point my husband walked away to read a sign and David made a snide comment about him reading the sign....and said that is what he was there for.... Not once were we offered the promised water or lemonade. The guide was super knowledgeable. Overall underwhelmed... we do a lot of excursions and this was my least favorite ever.
