Had a group of 13 friends visit Austin. We booked the Architectural Skyline Kayak Tour for Friday evening (11-06-2021). Travis was our tour guide and he did an excellent job. Although not technically a bat tour, we also saw the bats fly out of the Congress Street (?) Bridge at sunset. I’ll address some questions my group had before going: (i) there are tandem kayaks available, but they are not recommended because you have to synchronize your paddle strokes; (ii) the single kayaks are fairly stable and no one flipped over; (iii) you will get wet, not drenched, but it’s hard not to get water splashed onto yourself after each paddle stroke; (iv) it’s more of your shoes and lower body that get wet, instead of your upper body (our guide did appear to stay dry); (v) it’s manageable to have your phone out taking pictures and video while paddling and interacting with friends; and (vi) it takes some effort, but isn’t strenuous.
