This walking tour led by Captain Bryan is not your average "sit there and shut up" tour where the guide won't even remember you. Rather, after brief introduction, Captain Bryan will lead you on a historic journey of how Shem Creek came to prominence with its famous shrimping fleet and much more. Unlike any other tour in the area, guest have the ability to see the industry at work. Perhaps the group will meet Mr. Rector at Geechie Seafood with his several shrimp boats, beautiful reminders of the bountiful harvest to be conducted offshore. This is not a tour, it is an experience to immerse yourself in the Shem Culture. Take back history, culture, language, snacks, but most of all guests will take from this experience an underlying appreciation for our local shrimpers and the history behind these hard working men and women.

Capt Bryan was energetic, fun, personable and knowledgeable. His passion for the Shem Creek area was apparent throughout the tour. My family learned so much about the history of the islands and waterways, and learned about some great places to buy fresh, local seafood. We saw tons of local wildlife, and we also got to learn how to throw a shrimp net! The tour kept me, my husband and our two sons, 18 and 10, entertained and interested. Capt Bryan encouraged a lot of questions, which was great for my inquisitive kids. Overall highly recommend. A unique and fun experience!

The shrimping history was engaging. Learning how to catch crab and throw a shrimp net we have wanted to experience for decades. Just the best tour we have ever had😁.

Guide Captain Bryan is awesome with a passion for preserving history of Charleston esp. with the shrimp industry. Learned so much! Grandkids with us and they rated the tour a 5 star. Highly recommend this tour for all ages. Thank you Captain Bryan.
