This was a lovely afternoon in the Poipu area. The group was a good size (11) and the food was excellent. The owners were very approachable and gave good background information. My 8 year old grandson enjoyed the tour as well as did the adults. We were smart not to eat beforehand. Food included: a full sized scone with jam, 1/2 a hamburger on bun (vegetarian option was available), a fruit cup with what appeared to be frozen yoghurt, a half portion of poke with rice, a choice of croissants, and a very small tasting of two flavors of gelato. Our final stop at the Farmer's Market in a shopping center was crowded with difficult parking, but the visit with Judy, the pastry chef, made it worthwhile.

Super fun! We got to meet all of the chefs and learn about how the food is prepared and the local ingredients that they use. I live Kaua'i and I had no idea all the local gems around me. The food and experience was amazing.

When I stumbled upon this tour while planning our anniversary trip, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Were we going to travel to farms, go into kitchens and meet chefs? As it turned out, we caravanned from stop to stop beginning at a farmers market and ending at a resort on the beach in Kapa’a. Fresh, local and sustainable is the focus. What I saw from the chefs we met is the passion they have for using local products and helping support and build community farm-to-table. Along the way, my husband and I tried new foods, made new friends and met some exciting young chefs. Tasting Kaua’i offers three regional tours on different days every week. Our tour was of the east region because that’s what fit our schedule. I would have loved doing all three. If you are traveling to this island, take a tour to learn what is happening and what local products are available. You won’t be disappointed.
