Marta Lane and her allies showed us the old Kauai and we walked into a working Taro field being lovingly tended by I think his name was Kevin, a man with a Masters Degree and now a hard working Taro farmer. We went to five or six different places to eat Kauai grown produce and fish and loved all of them. Highly recommend this. You follow along in your own car. Finding the start is not so easy but it is directly across from the beach and lifeguard stand. Look for a large red barn type pole barn on the left just off the highway.

We have found food tours to be a great way to learn about a city and always try to take one when we arrive someplace new. The first portion of the East Side food tour was held at Kealia Farm, where farmer Adam wowed us with his knowledge of Kauai, its food supply and taro farming. His wife Bonnie served us delicious stew and poi (gotta try it, I guess!). From there, we visited several area restaurants and were able to learn from the owners/chefs at each and sample their delicious offerings. All the food was awesome and we enjoyed every minute of this tour.

The food tour by Marta and Dan was excellent of the East side of the Island. What a learning experience. Also the flexibility of driving yourself and following others was no big deal but also provided us with the knowledge of exactly where these restaurants were located. The funny part was we went back to one the places to eat and our tour guides were there eating as well. Great experience and highly recommend to all.
