The Big Bus tour of San Francisco was great with very informative information and the tour of Alcatraz was superb. Unfortunately our schedule did not allow us to spend extended time on "The Rock".The only downside of our sightseeing experience was the mechanical condition of the bus. The brakes on this particular bus were metal on metal and screeched every time that we came to a stop. Heads would turn and people would stare. We had concerns on the stopping ability, especially on some of the San Francisco streets. In addition the squealing brakes made it difficult to hear the audio recording and took away from the experience.

Great way to see the city and good to get the Alcatraz tickets since they often sell out. One negative is that we couldn’t select the time to go to Alcatraz. Boats leave every 30 minutes and you’re gone for a good 2 hours. Our time was 11:30, so there was no time before to take advantage of the bus. We had to do a rushed bus tour from 2:30-5:30, so we saw the sites but didn’t have time to hop off and explore. Considering the cost of $150 per person you should provide a couple of options, early morning or late afternoon.

Thank you for your review of Big Bus San Francisco. I am sorry to hear you had a rushed bus tour. Our bus tickets are valid for 24 hours from point of redemption. The bus portion of the tour does not need to be on the same day as your Alcatraz tour.

Too little narration, too much elevator music. Narration wasn’t synced with tour. The Dragons gate stop was not a stop.

Thank you for your review and feed back of Big Bus San Francisco. I am sorry to hear you were not able to enjoy the tour. As of October 1st we have changed the bus route and Dragons Gate is no longer a stop. If you would like to see Chinatown we recommend getting off at Stop 2. Generally every other departing bus will contain a live guide. The free Big Bus app, is available to download and it will indicate which buses contain live guides versus pre-recorded commentary.
