Excellent adventure . I do cycle a lot but the Mickelson Trail was just a bit harder than I thought at age 66 . The grade was gentle but seemed to go on forever on some segments . My legs hurt a bit but of course I could still do it ! If I was to do it next year as a year older e bile for sure ! Shuttle service well done and Robb was a great asset to the trip as an experienced cyclist .Our accommodation in Hill City was just enough away from town ( Comfort Inn ) we decided to be lazy and not bike or walk into town for dinner .. we were with Black Hills Touring Company self guided tour .

Earlier this year my wife and I were considering a bike trip on the Mickelson Trail in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We contacted the Black Hills Tour Company and right from the start our email communications gave us the feeling that we were dealing with a professional company and they were interested in helping us make our trip special. From our first communications, we were confident in their ability to help us plan and execute our bike trip and they delivered. Melina and Kevin, the owners of the Black Hills Tour Company, were flexible during the planning process and made appropriate suggestions to make the trip better. During our time on the trail the Black Hills Tour Company delivered everything they promised professionally and timely. Although the Black Hills Tour Company rent very good bikes for trail riding, we brought our own tandem bike for our trip. The Black Hills Tour Company let us use their location to build our bikes, store our bike boxes, and disassemble our bikes at the end of the ride. Tools were available if needed and after our disassembly process Melina went out of her way to help us ship our bike home. We had a great trip and a lot of the reason was because of the professional ability of the Black Hills Tour Company.

The Mickelson Trail is a gorgeous rail to trail, with vast forestry, babbling brooks and dusty western tunnels. Melina helped, advised us and organized the trip. Carson was a fun tour guide and properly packed a good lunch for us at a mid point trail delta. Will definitely be back for another ride with Black Hills Tour Company, and a stop at Deadwood Brewery post ride.
