Our exclusive guided tour is designed to provide our guests with a great wine experience. Learn about Texas Wines and why they are exceptional and different. Hear about the varietals of wine produced while getting acquainted with the wines of vintners who are passionate about their wines. Visit beautiful, privately owned wineries for a tasting reserved just for our guests. Excellent for the wine novice as well as the experienced. Your tour includes a visit to three boutique wineries and/or tasting facilities around the scenic Texas Hill Country, a delicious chef-prepared boxed lunch or a pre-arranged stop at a local eatery. This tour is a unique way to experience the wine country of Texas and you will want to do it again! Every tour is customized and every tour is different - we don't visit the same wineries each trip because we plan our tours for the greatest experiences available for our guests.

Our driver Walt was fantastic. He was great at explaining things and driving. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. The first winery was excellent as we got generous pours and learned about how they got started. The wines was very good and people on our tour bought wine. The second winery, Untamed, was out of town further but the atmosphere was very elegant. This was where we got our lunch. Unfortunately the pours were very small and stingy and while we got a small tour behind the restaurant, we got no drinks for our food. The food was amazing though. The food definitely outshined the wine. A couple of our people on the tour including me wanted to have a small sample to go with our food and we were denied unless we spent $28 on a glass. This left a little bad taste in our experience. The third winery was part of a little collective and the setting was great! We enjoyed generous pours and light atmosphere. There was music at another collective winery which made it a great ending to a good trip.

This tour was overpriced and the experience was inferior. We started the tour hoping to see the vineyards, and some wine making process. The first stop was at an odd place, looked like an old gas station. There was no vineyard. The wine tasting was okay. The second and the third locations were better. Only one was actually located in a vineyard. After wine testing we stayed around for a good while which was waste of time. I think the price we paid for what we got was a lot. You can go on your own and do wine tasting and pay less than half of what you pay with this tour company. They really don’t add much value, hence I don’t recommend them.

Hi there! We truly regret that you are disappointed in your experience. I hope that I can clarify your winery experience for you. This tour only visits Boutique wineries which are small production, intimate experiences and award winning wines. To be a Boutique winery, the total number of cases of wine has to be less than 10,000 per year. Very small batch and the winemakers focus on Quality, not quantity. Not usually any big fancy showrooms - just GREAT wine. In Texas, 95% of grapes grown are not grown around Fredericksburg - they are grown in the Texas high plains due to our heat in central Texas - which can turn a grape into a raisin - there are many varitals of winemaking grapes that cannot grow in a hot environment. This is the reason that many wineries in Fredericksburg are not in a vineyard setting. Most wineries must grow their grapes elsewhere in Texas and bring them here to make the wine. Also, grapes have already been harvested in July/August here so the few vineyards here that guests may enter were not producing fruit during your visit. We do visit vineyards during the times that there are fruit on the vines. Same with wine making - we do take our guests to visit the wine making process at some of our wineries - when they are making wine. That doesn't happen all the time. Grapes are harvested in July/August and go into production during that time. Won't happen again until next year same time. Your first stop was Pontotoc - and they have won multiple awards for their wine including Best of Class this year in international wine competitions - the owner was the first to grow Tempranillo grapes in Texas. It was an old gas station! It belonged to LBJ's foreman for years - and has been converted to a really cool tasting room on acreage that is open to roam and visit. Your second winery was Adega Vinho - they have a vineyard but do not allow guests into it because they use it for their estate grapes. They too are Boutique sized winery with multiple awards for their wine. The last tasting was at Meierstone - they only made under 3000 cases last year, and her wine won Best of the Best at the International Wine Competiton in January! It's was written up in Texas Monthly this spring and numerous wine magazines. We recognize that everyone has different expectations which is why we require a valid telephone number so that we can contact our Boutique guests in advance to find out their preferences - The Boutique is our flagship tour and we do our best to cater it to accommodate our guests. Unfortunately we did not have a valid telephone number for you and were unable to get it until after we had booked the tour based on the remaining guests. For those who read this review - please reach out to us if you don't hear from us concerning your preferences for wine. Everyone has different tastes and we always try to accommodate our guests specific tastes on this Boutique Tour. Please recognize in the description that we talk about small wineries and an intimate setting. We allow plenty of time for our guests to enjoy the setting and the great wines before we move on to other wineries. If you are hoping to go through as many wine tastings as fast as possible, this tour is not for you. That's why we named this an Experience rather than a tour. And last, it is always cheaper to go on your own to any winery because you are paying your guide and driver to escort you - if being cheap is the goal - and there are cheaper wineries that sell larger production wines as well. We recognize that budget dictates experiences and we all do have a budget - which is why we offer several different wine tours. Maryam, had we been able to reach you I would have suggested one of our other tours better suited to your expectations. Two of my good friends were visiting me in Austin, and we wanted a quick getaway from the city. As wine lovers, we were excited to check out Fredericksburg and see what Texas wine was all about. We were so glad we selected this tour! Our guide was wonderful and we went to three different wineries that all had a different vibe. We learned a lot about Texas wine and how it came to be, and some of the top award winners in the area. Highly recommend and will be doing this again in the future!
