So we did this tour with Dan, and are a family of 5. 3 of us are relatively keen cyclists, one is a confident cyclist, the 5th one, not so much confident but still excited. When we got into the park, the guide didn't ask anyone about their ability, literally just got on his bike and went - quickly telling us to keep up, signal so we all stayed togethr, and if it was a red light, that we could go as long as we looked and were careful.
This frightened the not so confident member, but before she could say anything he was literally on his bike and off. We got to the first stop and she hadn't come as he had gone off too quickly. So 2 of our party dropped out before the first stop.
Complete and utter waste of money for 40% of our party.
ANYWAY. Off we continued. I had a dodgy bike and the gears kept randomly cranking away which was annoying. At one point, the chain came completely off so we had to stop, get off our bikes and put it back on. Of course Dan was nowhere to be seen, but luckily we caught up to the group in time. At another point, our party of 3 and another few people were toward the back and suddenly realised we couldn't see the group. There was a choice of two ways to go and we had no idea which direction. Fortunately we chose the right one.
I did enjoy the tour, and the guide was knowledgeable, but I think the way it was started off was beyond poor, and there was definitely no regard for the whole group at all which was really disappointing. It was NOT as advertised - a "leisurely" tour at all - more like following a guide around at a really fast pace. We didn't even stop off at a lot of things - we were told things like "through those trees is the boating lake as seen in Stuart Little and Gossip Girl". We had to walk around after to actually see things.
Very disappointing as this was what I was looking forward to the most on the trip.Woudln't do it again OR recommend.
