Tour guide pleasant enough ..he arrived 10 mins late and I felt we were rushing around the sites at times...glad we got to see Strawberry fields .
Unfortunately my brother's bike broke halfway through the tour ...the guiderang the company who said if he hailed a cab they would refund him.Well it took him over an hour to get back to the shop and no cab would stop for him ..he was not happy ..it was very hot and the woman at the shop was more concerned about the bike than my 60 year old brother ,who didn't know where he was going and walking for ages in 90c of heat !If you want to do this tour ..do it yourself as it would be more leisurely ..the customer service in the bike shop was VERY disappointing
I would only rate this tour as '2 3 being kind stars'.... The tour guide was intolerant if you could not keep up with the fastest rider in the group we had 20 which was far too large for a bike group. The guide had us exit the Park for a large part of the tour and riding on the road - highly dangerous ew York traffic! and we had to ride in the bus lane which also accommodated all other forms of traffic, as well as cars crossing over in front of you to park at the kerb. We were stopping and starting and darting in and out of the traffic. My husband was so close to being hit by a car, it was truly frightening The whole tour lasted 2 hours - which involved about forty-five minutes of bike riding and the rest of the time we had to stand in the sun and listen to information. The chain on my bike came off, therefore, i was separated from the group without assistance. At the end of the tour I did not see the tour guide as he had ridden off. I guess this was good because I didn't have to give him a tip! The only conversation he had with me was that he had a company that could sell me cheap tickets to the Theatre his name was Damien. I would suggest you hire a bike yourself, grab a map, and do your own bike tour, you would get more out of it and you would then have time for a lovely lunch in the Park at the Loeb Boat House - indoors or out - I do recommend - and then you would have a great day. Or, hire a bike yourself - many bike rental places near the Park, grab some picnic fare and go and enjoy it in the Park whenever you feel like stopping. You will have a far more enjoyable and relaxing day.
This is a great tour. Got a chance to really see Central Park and enjoy an easy ride too. Definitely would do again!
