We booked tickets online, where it said that you can hop on and off at any stop. NOT SO. We hopped on at the Rodin Museum, then were told that we would not be allowed to hop off at our intended stop because we did not have the "bracelets". Then they said the only place we could get the bracelets was ten stops away. To make matters worse, they said that if we got off, they would call the next bus to tell them that we could not board. We had to call headquarters to get permission to board the last tour bus of the day (keep in mind we had paid full price for tickets). We were able to board the bus, only to find that all of the windows were covered in advertising skins on the outside, so you could not see the sights. This forced us to ride on the open top bus in 30 degree freezing cold in order to see anything. Do not book this tour. There are several other companies to choose from that have great reviews.

It was a rainy and chilly day in Philly when we did this. The weekend before they WON the super bowl. Our tour guide warren was great ! You could tell he really loved his city and was so excited to share a bit of its history. The comic relief, Rose (our bus driver) really added to the adventure. I would highly recommend.

We went on a freezing day in late December (the enclosed trolleys were in service instead of the buses) and bought the tickets as a way to get a quick overview of the city. For this purpose, it was great. We took the entire route, 1.25-1.5 hours. It was less useful as a get-around means of transportation, partly because we started at 1:15pm and partly because the buses/trolleys run once an hour during the cold season. In the warmer seasons, I can see biking/walking or Uber cars as good alternatives for getting around. The main attractions aren't that spread out, you just basically need to get to/from 2 areas, the places to the west and the walkable downtown area. We had a fantastic tour guide, Jo(?)....Lively story teller, amazing memory, knows the stories, throws in funny stuff, all from the perspective of a proud local....The other staff we ran into were friendly and professional, too.
